Mombasa Imam Denies Preaching Extremist Views

Sheikh Khalid Muhammad Ali, an Imam at Mlango wa Papa Mosque in Mombasa, denied allegations that he preaches extremism. Following Friday prayers in Old Town, Sheikh Ali stated that they oppose any teachings that do not promote peace.

Earlier in the week, Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa announced that the government was closely monitoring the mosque. Commissioner Marwa warned the mosque's committee and youth to cease extremist preaching, threatening legal action if they failed to comply.
