A candidate for the Maendeleo ya Wanawake (MYWO) Nairobi chairperson seat has launched her campaign. Martha Miyandazi urged all women in Nairobi to support her during a meeting with her supporters at a Nairobi hotel. She is currently the only woman to have expressed interest in the position of chairperson for Nairobi county.
The organisation will close its nomination process on June 12. Grassroots elections, which will see the election of 47 county chairpersons, are scheduled for June 18. This comes after a High Court ruling in April that MYWO should hold elections within 90 days, following a seven-year period without conducting any.
