Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua ordered striking doctors in his county to report to work on Thursday morning, warning that failure to do so would result in their termination.
According to the governor, he has initiated the process of importing doctors from Uganda, India, and other countries to replace the striking medics.
The imported doctors will fill the positions of Kenyan medics who fail to report to work on Thursday.
"I have told striking doctors that the curse of patients who died because they are on strike will be on their heads forever," said Governor Mutua.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, accompanied by all 47 governors, rejected a proposed salary deal for doctors negotiated by senior clerics during the fourth devolution conference in Naivasha.
" Hawa watu wanafikiria sisi ni wajinga (These people think we are foolish)," President Kenyatta stated.
Council of Governors Chairman Peter Munya announced that counties are working on contingency measures, including issuing dismissal letters to striking doctors and recruiting medical professionals from other countries.
Munya clarified that the 50 percent salary increase offer remains available to doctors willing to resume work.
