Nairobi County Government Orders Removal of Politicians' Billboards

Nairobi county government has instructed outdoor advertising companies to take down all banners and billboards erected by politicians during the mass voter registration period.

According to John Ntoiti, the head of devolved units at City Hall, the official campaign season has not yet commenced.

Mr. Ntoiti stated that city askaris have been directed to arrest politicians who address rallies in the city using vernacular languages. Those detained will face charges of being a public nuisance and incitement.

These remarks were made by Mr. Ntoiti during a media briefing at City Hall.
