Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper party, has reversed his decision to endorse Muungano Party leader Kivutha Kibwana for a direct nomination, following a rebellion from other party leaders.

The chaos began when Kalonzo handed Kibwana a direct nomination for the Makueni governor seat, sparking discontent among other leaders who felt the process was unfair.

On Tuesday, February 21, a group of leaders expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision, leading to a round of chaos within the party.

In response to the backlash, Kalonzo announced that he would allow other aspirants to compete for the Makueni seat in fair nominations.

"I have agreed with party members that those who wish to contest for the Makueni seat will be given the chance to compete in fair nominations."

Kalonzo also stated that he would speak with Kibwana about the change, saying, "I will talk to Kibwana as I’m sure he has no problem taking on his opponents."

The reversal comes amid major cracks within the Wiper party, with some senior leaders threatening to defect due to unfair nominations.

Wiper chair David Musila and vice chair Mutula Kilonzo Junior have been vocal about the need for a fair approach to the primaries.
