According to Hon Mike Sonko, it is essential for leaders to respect the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. The President has been working to unite Kenyans regardless of their background and has visited various parts of the country to bring leaders together.

Hon Sonko stated that as a member of the Jubilee Government, they have been focused on delivering promises to Kenyans and avoiding divisive politics. He expressed his disappointment with Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, saying that he respects him but will not tolerate playing cheap politics that mislead the people of Mombasa.

Hon Sonko emphasized the importance of respecting the Office of the Presidency, citing Chapter 9, Article 131(1)(e) of the constitution, which states that the President is the symbol of national unity. He urged the opposition to respect the President and his administration, allowing them to implement their manifesto until the 2017 polls.

Hon Sonko also mentioned that he has great respect for CORD leaders, including Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Moses Wetangula, and expects the same level of respect from them towards Jubilee leadership.
