On Saturday, students from over 20 non-formal schools in Kangemi attended a symposium at the Kangemi Resource Centre, where they interacted with Airtel Kenya employees.
Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi gave a motivational talk to the students, while other employees shared their knowledge and experiences to help the students identify their career paths and develop valuable skills.
According to El Youssefi, the company aims to empower students through their education journey, enabling them to make informed career and personal choices. He stated,
"One of the greatest investments an organization can make in the lives of young people is the ability to envision and spur them to greater heights and goals in life. The symposium today offered us an opportunity to connect with the students, pass on our knowledge and experience to this next generation,"
Internet Access for Kangemi Resource Centre ¶
As part of its Internet for Schools program, Airtel Kenya connected the Kangemi Resource Centre’s computer lab to the internet for free. This will provide access to information for students, teachers, and youth from over 80 non-formal schools in the area.
Kangemi Resource Centre coordinator, Mr. Alix d’Ansembourg, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, saying,
"It is inspiring to see the students interacting with the team from Airtel. This is a great opportunity for the students which I believe will give them real hope that they can also make it if they take these tips seriously.
The internet connection will also give our students the chance to broaden their learning for their own individual success and that of their families."
