President Uhuru Kenyatta visited retired President Daniel Moi at his Kabarnet Gardens home in Nairobi on Wednesday, February 15.
According to The Standard, during the meeting, Uhuru requested that Moi urge his son, Baringo County Senator Gideon Moi, to support him in the August 8 polls.
Gideon Moi's KANU party had indicated it would support the opposition coalition NASA due to a fallout with Deputy President William Ruto.

Lonyangapuo confirmed to The Standard that Uhuru requested Moi to urge KANU to support him for re-election.
"The President had a cordial conversation on a variety of issues with Mzee who asked him to ensure that the upcoming elections do not divide the nation," Lonyangapuo said.
Eventually, Moi advised KANU to support Uhuru for re-election, which the party agreed to do. This decision is seen as a blow to NASA, who had been associating with KANU Secretary General Nick Salat.
