On July 18, 2019, police in Makueni County arrested three Form Two female students for attempting to poison their colleague.
The students had planned to lace the victim's food with chemicals stolen from the school's laboratory, but their plan was botched after one of the students refused to carry out the assignment.
According to a police report, the three students had conspired to poison their classmate using chemicals they had stolen from the school's laboratory, including hydrochloric acid, Benedicts solution, and phenolpthalic indicator.
The students had planned to use the chemicals to lace the victim's lunch meal, but the plan was foiled when one of the students refused to carry out the assignment, leading to an argument among the three.
The incident was reported at the Makueni Police Station by the school's deputy principal after she was informed of the failed attempt by the class prefect.
"The three had conspired to poison their classmate with chemicals stolen from the school laboratory," reads the police report.
"One of the students was to execute the plan by lacing victim's lunch meal with one of the chemicals namely Phenolpthaline indicator while the other two kept vigil," the report reads on.
The three minors are now at the police station for interrogations and further necessary police action," said the police.
