Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has described Deputy President William Ruto's visits to the region as a public relations exercise, citing the lack of progress in addressing insecurity despite the launch of a security operation.
Moi questioned the effectiveness of Ruto's visits, noting that no arrests have been made since the operation began. He also compared the situation in Baringo to Laikipia North, where over 300 bandits were arrested following the killing of a British rancher.
It seems the government is doing a public relations exercise on the much-hyped operation because we are yet to hear of any arrests one week after the exercise commenced,
Moi said, as quoted by the Nation.
Moi further called for the resignation of Tiaty MP Asman Kamama as the chairperson of the National Assembly Security Committee, citing the need for a smooth investigation into the ongoing security operation in the county.
The comments come after Moi faced resistance from residents in Bartabwa, Baringo North, who denied him permission to land his helicopter in the area due to his refusal to support a 'shoot to kill' order proposed by Ruto.
