A survey by London-based firm New World Wealth indicates that President Uhuru Kenyatta is not the richest individual in Kenya.
According to the report, the top five richest men in Kenya are:
- Vimal Shah: Estimated to be worth Ksh 144 billion, making him the richest man in Kenya, with Forbes estimating a more conservative figure of Ksh 68 billion.
- Naushad Meralli: Founder of the Sameer Group, with an estimated wealth of Sh 85 billion.
- Uhuru Kenyatta: With an estimated wealth of Sh 48 billion, which could cover the cost of educating 12 million school-going children for one year.
- Chris Kirubi: Owner of Capital Media Group and chairman of Centum Investment Group, estimated to be worth KSh 29 billion.
- Manu Chandaria: Chairman of Comcraft Group, estimated to be worth Ksh 27 billion and part-owner of United States International University (USIU).
