Anne Waiguru, the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Devolution and Planning, has been a close associate of President Uhuru Kenyatta for many years, leaving many Kenyans with unanswered questions about their relationship.

Waiguru, who hails from Gichugu constituency in Kirinyaga county, got her first job when she was appointed as the chairman of the Kenya Tourism Board in 1999. She later worked with Kenyatta in his office when he was the Minister for Local Government.

As Kenyatta's career progressed, Waiguru followed him to various ministries, including the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Finance. After Kenyatta was elected president, he appointed Waiguru as the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Devolution and Planning, a ministry that is structured to be under the office of the president.

Recent Developments

Recently, Waiguru's homecoming ceremony in Gichugu was attended by a large number of Jubilee MPs, governors, and senators, as well as President Kenyatta himself. The president bestowed several gifts on the people of Gichugu, courtesy of Waiguru, who was also crowned as a leader by local elders.

Unconfirmed rumors suggest that Kenyatta may be grooming Waiguru to take over as Nairobi Governor, potentially paving the way for a presidential bid in 2022.
