Published on July 23, 2019, three Form 2 girls from Makueni Girls High School in Makueni County are facing serious allegations after they reportedly planned to poison their classmate over a boyfriend.

According to a police report, the three girls conspired to use chemicals stolen from the school's science laboratory to carry out their plan.

“One of them was to execute the plan by lacing the victim's lunch meal with phenolphthalein indicator while the other two kept vigil,” the report reads.

The alleged plan involved using other chemicals, including hydrochloric acid, Benedict's solution, and phenolphthalein indicator.

The Deputy Principal of the school is credited with making the call to the Makueni Police Station, which led to the girls' arrest.

It is alleged that the plan failed when one of the girls got cold feet and an argument ensued.

The class prefect had discovered the girls' plan and reported it to the Deputy Principal, leading to their arrest.

The girls are currently being held at the Machakos Police Station for further interrogations.
