Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho ordered the airlifting of police officers who allegedly sustained minor injuries during anti-IEBC demonstrations in Kisumu. According to reports, police shot and killed three people in Nyanza, and no action has been taken. The decision to airlift police officers with alleged minor injuries has sparked criticism, with many wondering why they could not be treated at well-equipped health facilities in Kisumu.
The region has several hospitals, including Aga Khan Hospital, Jaramogi Odinga National Referral Hospital, and a County Referral Hospital. Neighboring Eldoret also has a national referral hospital. In contrast, the police officers were taken to Nairobi West Hospital.
Images have surfaced showing the Kenya Police officers who were allegedly critically wounded in Kisumu. A plane was sourced to fly them back to Nairobi for specialized treatment.
