A Nairobi court is set to deliver judgment on August 19 in the trial of five suspects accused of murdering Rose Waruinge, a relative of President Uhuru Kenyatta, at her Kilimani residence in 2012.
The prosecution has asked the court to convict the suspects, citing sufficient evidence linking them to the crime, which included robbery, fatal shooting, and alleged gang assault.
The suspects - Paul Kilyungi Maluki, Mutua Nzioka, John Masila Nzioka, Alex Mwenda, and Aggrey Musina - have denied the charges, claiming they were at their workplaces at the time of the incident and knew nothing about the offenses.
Evidence and Testimony ¶
Witnesses, including the deceased's son and two daughters who were present during the attack, testified in the trial. Police officers, including investigator John Shegu, also gave testimony, stating that the robbers shot the lawyer in the breast and sexually molested her female guests during the February 10, 2012 incident.
If convicted, the suspects face the death penalty.
