A 22-year-old man, Josephat Esakane, is facing a potential life sentence for allegedly committing a violent robbery. According to the prosecution, Esakane used violence to rob Samuel Gichuru of several items, including a laptop worth Sh30,000, a mobile phone worth Sh16,000, clothes worth Sh21,000, and Sh10,000 in cash.
The alleged incident occurred on June 3 when Esakane, along with accomplices, invaded Gichuru's home in Syokimau at around 1am. They were reportedly armed with a pistol and a knife, and threatened to break in and kill Gichuru if he did not open the door.
State lawyer Simon Muriuki presented the case before Makadara senior principal magistrate Victor Wakumile.
