A full-time Program Manager position is available at Lutheran World Relief (LWR) in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will be part of the International Programs department.
Job Description: The Program Manager will support the Country Director in identifying partners, developing projects, and preparing concept papers and proposals. The role involves ensuring projects are implemented according to contractual obligations and maintaining high standards.
The Program Manager will report directly to the Country Director.
Key Responsibilities: ¶
Program Operations:
- Assist in maintaining relationships between LWR and its partners in Kenya.
- Develop concept papers, proposals, and budgets with partners.
- Ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals to the Country Director.
- Collaborate with the Country Director to respond to disasters and emergencies.
- Monitor project reports, track progress, and provide feedback to partners.
- Implement a customized accompaniment plan for partners and projects.
- Manage project budgets and ensure activities are implemented as planned.
- Maintain accurate records and databases.
- Identify lessons learned from projects and document case studies.
- Stay updated on development trends in Kenya.
Teamwork:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the country operational plan.
- Participate in strategic planning and review for LWR in Kenya.
- Support the Country Director in program development and partner relations.
- Engage in local advocacy efforts aligned with LWR strategies.
- Attend regional staff meetings.
The Program Manager may be assigned additional tasks by the Country Director.
Requirements: ¶
- Commitment to LWR's core values and ability to model them in relationships.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a related development field.
- Experience in project management, agricultural livelihoods, and value chain development is essential.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili, with excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with development issues in Kenya at a practical and policy level.
- Ability to work effectively with local governments, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
- Willingness to travel approximately 75% of the time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web browsing software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to take instructions from supervisors.
- Proof of ability to work legally in Kenya; Kenyan nationals are preferred.
