A middle-aged man is on the run after allegedly killing his friend following a dispute over 30 shillings in Muruka, Kandara Constituency.
The incident occurred in a pub in Muruka town over the weekend. Witnesses reported that the two men, identified as Kaindo, a mechanic, and Mwangi, differed over the 30 shillings that Kaindo owed Mwangi.
According to witnesses, Mwangi told Kaindo that he was having a good time but could not afford to pay his debt. The situation escalated into a heated exchange, after which Mwangi allegedly drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed Kaindo.
Mwangi escaped from the scene, and a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend him. The death sparked a reaction from local residents, who blamed the sale of illicit brew in the area for such incidents.
