A Nairobi court has granted police an additional 14 days to complete investigations into the collapse of a six-storey building in Huruma Estate, Nairobi, which resulted in the deaths of 21 people earlier this month.
According to the original account, Milimani Principal Magistrate Eddy Agade issued the orders after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), through Senior State Counsel Catherine Mwaniki, requested more time for the police to conclude their investigations.
The building's owners, Samuel Kamau and Henry Muiruri, are under investigation, along with government officials Chrispas Ndinyo, Justus Kathenge, and Seline Ogallo.
The magistrate approved the prosecution's request for an extension and denied the defense's application to discharge their clients. The case is set to be mentioned on June 7 for further directions.
