On July 22, 2019, Treasury CS Henry Rotich and his team were taken to the Milimani Law Courts as early as 8 am for arraignment.
Rotich, his PS Kamau Thugge, and other officers were arrested by the Director of Public Prosecutions over the Arror and Kimwarer Dams scandal.
According to the DPP, Rotich and 26 others schemed to defraud the public of at least 19 billion shillings in the scandal.
Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga were involved in a bitter exchange of words over the scandal.
Senate Minority leader Kipchumba Murkomen described the arrests as a political witchhunt.
Rotich and his team are currently being held at the Milimani Law Courts cells.
