Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Deputy President William Ruto exchanged words at a funds drive in Kakamega County last weekend.

Senator Khalwale urged Ruto not to contest the presidency in 2017, citing the current government's alleged failures. He accused Ruto and President Uhuru of favoring two tribes in government appointments, which he claimed could lead to future conflicts.

Khalwale, who plans to defend his seat on an ODM ticket, expressed confidence in the opposition's ability to run a successful government.

In response, Ruto defended the government's progress and emphasized the need for collective effort to address the country's security problems, including the war against terror.
