Gem Member of Parliament, Jakoyo Midiwo, joined Western leaders to rebel against former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, in Parliament.

This development came after Luhya politicians led by Budalangi MP, Ababu Namwamba, and his Sirisia counterpart, John Waluke, warned the former PM and their colleagues in the Opposition against politicizing or criticizing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto’s gesture to issue a Sh1 billion cheque for the bailout of Mumias Sugar Company.

The Western Kenya leaders were reacting against CORD’s propaganda that the Sh1 billion was bait to convert Luhyas from Raila Odinga to support Jubilee; something that did not go down well with Luhya leaders, prompting them to put Raila and his supporters on notice.

Jakoyo Midiwo, who is Raila Odinga’s cousin, joined Namwamba and Western leaders to warn ODM and CORD against politicizing Uhuru/Ruto’s help for Mumias.

He thanked the President and his Deputy for the timely bailout of Mumias and urged them to extend the same to Gem.
