Early this month, former US President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea visited Nairobi. As is customary for former US Presidents, they received protection from the US Secret Service.

A story about the Secret Service detail in Nairobi, which was largely unreported in the local press, has emerged. According to an article by Nairobi Wire, the agency's counter-assault team (CAT) was conducting advance work at Farasi Lane Primary School in Lower Kabete ahead of Clinton's visit.

The Washington Post reports that the agents noticed some children in the yard playing with an empty milk jug. Touched by the scene, the agents purchased brand new soccer balls and gave them to Clinton's permanent detail to deliver to the school's headmaster, choosing not to seek credit for their actions.

When Clinton learned about his agents' goodwill, he requested a meeting with the children who played football, possibly to reveal the true source of the gift.
