Menstruation is a natural part of life for women. While men may not experience menstruation firsthand, they can still offer support and sympathy to their loved ones during this time.
A woman's period is accompanied by hormonal changes, which can lead to mood swings. Being considerate of what is said during this time can be helpful.
The following are examples of comments that might be best avoided when speaking to a woman who is having her period:
- Are you still bleeding?
- Babe, why does the pack say "supers?"
- Jesus, what’s wrong with you?
- What exactly does PMS stand for?
- How bloody are we talking here?
- I think you have a loose hem on your shorts. Be careful pulling it though — it’s right by your crotch.
- So do all the holes bleed or what?
- Does it hurt to bleed?
