There was drama on Thursday in Gilgil along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway after mourners threatened to dump a body at the mobile traffic court for breaking traffic rules.
The mourners were going to Western Kenya when police flagged one of their vehicles for over-speeding, a move that angered them.
A witness reported that mourners tried to dump the casket a few meters from the mobile court while cursing the police and threatening them that the spirit of the dead would haunt them for interfering with his final journey.
Despite this, Naivasha Senior Resident Magistrate Shadrack Mwinzi imposed a hefty fine on the driver. After realizing their actions would not change the outcome, the mourners left quietly to their vehicle, which had been parked by the roadside.
