A 3-day, 2-night trip to Wasini Island has been planned for December 12-14, 2014. The journey begins in Nairobi, departing at 6:00 am on December 12, with a stopover in Mtito Andei for lunch.

Upon arrival at Wasini Island in the late afternoon, participants will board a dhow to Kisite Mpunguti Island, where they will set up camp near the beach and enjoy an island sundowner. Activities include swimming, a night walk on the beach, and a bonfire with a night drink.

Day 2 Itinerary

The second day starts with an early morning breakfast, followed by a half-day dhow-dolphin safari in Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park. Participants may also have the opportunity to swim with dolphins and see turtles. In the afternoon, a traditional Arabic dhow will take participants on a nature walk at Wasini, sailing into the Wasini Channel. The tour focuses on relaxation, viewing stunning surroundings, including coral gardens, mangrove forests, and marine life.

The day concludes with a visit to Shimoni Caves, a site of early Swahili civilization and marks of slavery, and a Swahili traditional lunch at Shimoni. Participants will then head to Diani Beach, with dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Mombasa.

Day 3 Itinerary

The final day begins with an early morning breakfast, followed by a visit to Fort Jesus and brief shopping in Mombasa Town, if time allows. The group will depart Mombasa before noon, with lunch en route at Mtito Andei or Voi Town, and arrive back in Nairobi in the early evening.

The package costs KSH 9,499 for citizens, KSH 11,000 for residents, and USD 165 for non-residents. The package includes transport, accommodation on a half-board basis, service of an English-speaking tour guide, transfer dhow safari, and government taxes.

Excluded from the package are extras like tips and drinks, lunch, special activities and equipment, laundry, personal drinks, and bedding for camping.

A deposit of KSH 1,000 should be made on or before October 28, 2014, with payments made through Mpesa till number 820303. A seat will only be confirmed after a deposit of KSH 4,500 is made on or before November 20, 2014.
