In 2014, Dennis Ngaruiya, then 13 years old, recited a poem on maternal health that impressed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The admission process was emotional, especially for Dennis' mother, Ms Damaris Wambui, who expressed her gratitude and surprise at the opportunity her son had been given.
Ms Wambui stated, "I didn’t know my child could be admitted and study in such a good school like other children."
