Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has shared some of the last words his late father, Gideon Mbuvi, spoke to him before passing away.

Gideon Mbuvi's funeral, held on September 15, 2015, was a high-profile event that included a gold and diamond encrusted coffin and live TV coverage, with President Uhuru Kenyatta in attendance.

Mike Sonko reflected on his final moments with his father, describing him as his 'best buddy'. He also recounted an argument they had, quoting his father as saying,

"Sonko chunga sana, poachers watakuua."

When Mike Sonko asked why he said that, his father replied,

"ati nimemea pembe"
