A senior official at the US Embassy in Nairobi has confirmed that US President Barack Obama is expected to visit his father’s birthplace in Siaya County during his trip to Nairobi on July 25.
According to the confirmation, President Obama is expected to visit Mama Sarah Obama’s home in Kogelo, where former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will welcome him. Over 250 Secret Service officials are already in Nairobi and Kisumu preparing for the visit.
Local and US security officials have been visiting Kogelo and meeting with family members. President Obama will be in Nairobi from July 24 to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, a White House initiative that brings together entrepreneurs and investors from around the world.
The summit aims to showcase innovative projects and is expected to draw significant global attention due to its symbolic importance. President Obama was invited to the event by his host, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
