Jackline Mwende, who made national news after her estranged husband attacked her with a panga, has had the identity of her baby's father revealed.
Months after the incident, Mwende admitted to cheating to save her marriage, announcing she was pregnant. However, she refused to disclose the father of her baby until now.
A local newspaper reported that residents described Mwende as a loose woman before the attack, pointing out her closeness to a boda boda rider of Somali origin.
Residents recalled that the arguments between Mwende and her husband, Stephen Ngila, were particularly about her questionable dealings, especially her closeness with a boda boda rider.
The Somali man allegedly paid for Mwende's initial shop at her village market and was described as a business partner. However, their closeness raised questions among the public.
The Somali doubled up as a business partner and provided everything for the shop which Mwende was operating. Beyond business, the closeness was questionable in the eyes of the public.
Neighbours accused the man of being the main cause of the fallout between Mwende and Ngila, according to The Nairobian.
Mwende previously confessed that she had been spotted with her baby's father a day before Ngila attacked her with a panga, chopping off her arms and slashing her head and ear.
A day earlier I had been spotted with the father of my unborn child. We had sought accommodation in Machakos town because I did not want to bring him to my matrimonial bed.
Ngila is currently in remand awaiting a court appearance.
