Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga has vowed to defeat his opponents in the August 8 General Election, despite facing stiff competition from prominent figures in the county.
Akaranga, known for his political maneuvering, is up against several heavyweights, including Emuhaya MP Dr Wilbur Ottichilo, Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu, Eng Josephat Amadi, and Enos Butiko, who narrowly lost to Akaranga in the 2013 election.
The governor has dismissed criticism and allegations of poor governance, labeling his critics as naysayers whose noise can’t shake me. He expressed satisfaction with his government's performance and is counting on his record and faith to secure re-election.
Akaranga stated,
Many people are out to soil my name, attacking to take the governor’s post from me. They have already launched campaigns but I’m not worried because God will always hand me victory and shame them.
The 63-year-old governor has a history of pulling off surprise victories, having defeated Musalia Mudavadi in the 2002 Sabatia constituency election and overcoming favored candidates in the 2013 gubernatorial election.
