A jihadist leader who organized the April 2015 attack on Garissa University in eastern Kenya has been killed in a raid in southwestern Somalia. According to Somali authorities, Mohamed Mohamud Ali, also known as Dulyadin, and 16 armed men were gunned down by Somali commandos on Wednesday.
Mohamed Mohamud Ali was behind the deadly Garissa University attack that left 148 students dead and several others injured. He had been hiding in Somalia while organizing other attacks in the country.
Somali forces cornered the group in southwestern Somalia when they were about to launch an attack. The operation took three hours to complete, resulting in the death of one of the most dangerous terrorists in East Africa.
Over the past four years, the Alshabaab group has conducted over 10 deadly attacks in several parts of Kenya, killing over 1,000 innocent civilians. The group also carried out a deadly attack on Kenyan soldiers in Somalia earlier this year.
