On July 20, 2018, Siaya Senator James Orengo issued a stern warning to his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart, Senator Murkomen, for dragging ODM leader Raila Odinga into the ongoing Mau forest saga.
Senator Orengo expressed his disbelief over Murkomen's claims that Raila was behind the forceful eviction from the forest and the country's water tower.
‘Can Murkomen really claim to be in government and the evictions are ongoing and he has no answer except to blame Raila? If there is any man who sired a foolish son, then Murkomen’s father is one,’ Senator Orengo said while addressing mourners.
Senator Orengo challenged Murkomen and his allies to speak the truth, stating that it would set them free from spreading lies. He added that people like Murkomen would soon realize how ignorant they are.
