Mbita Constituency MP Millie Odhiambo has challenged a blackmailer who threatened to release her photos to the media unless she pays him off.
According to the MP, a man identifying himself as Elisha sent her a message claiming he had compromising photos of her and would release them to the media unless she compensated him financially.
In a Facebook post, Millie Odhiambo shared the message from Elisha, which read: ‘Somthng damng is on my hands and getting its way to the media, jatelo this might taint ur image than ever and probably destroy your stalng political career, plus some pics from a guy u cnt expct. snd me ur mail i send u da stafs u see. Urgent’
Millie Odhiambo stated that she spoke with Elisha, who claimed his intention was to protect her but demanded financial compensation in exchange for not releasing the photos.
However, the MP refused to give in to the blackmail, daring Elisha to release the photos. POST WHATEVER YOU HAVE, she told him.
Millie Odhiambo expressed her indifference to public opinion on her morality, stating that she had anticipated attacks on her character when she entered politics. She further emphasized that she was a lawyer by profession and would not be intimidated by threats to her career.
The MP concluded by saying she was only answerable to God and would not pay any money to Elisha, encouraging him to release the photos on social media and regular media if he wished.
This incident is not the first time Millie Odhiambo has been involved in a controversy. In December of the previous year, she was caught up in a heated debate during the discussion of the Security Laws, where she alleged that Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria had assaulted her. Mr. Kuria denied the allegations, claiming it was Ms. Odhiambo who had removed her own innerwear and thrown it on the floor.
