According to the Kenya Police Service, an 18-year-old man was fatally shot by Administration Police officers during a foiled robbery attempt in Nairobi's Kibera area.

Boniface Makau, the deceased, was accompanied by two other individuals who escaped with bullet wounds.

Makau was pronounced dead at Mbagathi District Hospital, where he had been taken for treatment.

In a briefing at Vigilante House, Police Spokesperson Zipporah Mboroki stated that police officers on patrol spotted the trio attempting to rob someone and ordered them to stop, but they refused to comply.

Ms. Mboroki explained that during the confrontation, one of the robbers drew a pistol and fired two rounds at the officers, prompting them to return fire.

While two of the suspects were wounded, one managed to escape unharmed.

The police recovered a ceska pistol (S/NO P2695) and one round of ammunition from the scene.

Ms. Mboroki urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help improve security in their neighborhoods.

The deceased's body is currently at the city mortuary.

The recovered account cited reporting by Nairobi News.
