A middle-aged man who allegedly killed a woman and her one and a half-year-old child was also killed and his body lynched at Chieni village, Mathira West Constituency.
According to reports, 40-year-old Charles Thagana attacked 40-year-old Christine Wamaitha Maina on her way to Ngorano Trading Center, hacking her to death. He then strangled her toddler using his socks before attempting to hide.
The area Senior Chief, Joseph Muhoro, stated that Thagana dismembered Wamaitha's body parts before attacking the child. Thagana later sought refuge at his uncle's home in Chieni village.
Locals discovered Thagana's whereabouts and, upon learning he had been spotted in Chieni village, confronted him. After beating him to death, they lynched his body and notified the police to collect the remains.
Thagana was reportedly a notorious armed robber with a history of incarceration.
