A list of hospitals in Kisumu that could have treated the minor soft tissue injuries suffered by police officers includes:

  • Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu
  • Jaramogi Odinga national referral hospital
  • County Referral Hospital (previously Kisumu District Hospital)
  • Kisii Level 6 Teaching and referral Hospital
  • Kakamega referral hospital (formerly Western provincial hospital)
  • Moi Teaching and referral hospital in Eldoret

Other County level hospitals in the region include Level 4 and 5 hospitals in Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kericho, and Bomet.

However, the injured police officers were airlifted to Nairobi West Hospital, which has been compared to a kiosk hospital.

The decision to take the officers to Nairobi West Hospital has raised questions about the cost and necessity of the treatment.

Even a calamity of stupid jokes is an opportunity to mint money!

The incident has sparked criticism and ridicule, with some suggesting that the police injuries were not serious enough to warrant airlifting to a hospital in Nairobi.
