A 36-year-old man from Ngarariga village, Kiambu County, identified as Mike Njenga, was sentenced to 9 years in prison for committing domestic violence against his wife.

According to court records, Njenga stuffed hot red pepper into his wife's private parts in a fit of rage. He was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of domestic violence, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Resident Magistrate Augostino Nyaunyo, who presided over the case, described it as one of the 'most barbaric domestic violence' cases he had ever handled. The magistrate hoped that the verdict would serve as a deterrent to others who might consider committing similar acts.
