Detectives raided the house of former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, among other officials accused of NYS graft. The search, conducted with a warrant, lasted from early morning until around 2 pm and included a thorough examination of the premises, including Waiguru's handbags and her children's exercise books.
According to Waiguru's lawyer, Ahmednassir Abdullahi, the massive mansion costs Sh100 million. However, this figure is disputed on social media, with some reports suggesting it may have cost double that amount. The significant expense raises questions, given that a government salary would be insufficient to afford such a house, even without any other expenses.
Waiguru's lawyer noted that she is still servicing her mortgage. The mansion is located in Kihingo Village, an upscale residential development in Kitisuru, Nairobi, described as providing a lifestyle experience unparalleled in East and Central Africa.
Kihingo Village boasts various amenities, including all-round CCTV coverage, a standby generator, borehole, swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam gym, sauna, children's playground, squash court, basketball court, tennis court, meeting room, dining room, lounge, bar, AVR room, and golf course.
The village has 54 houses built on it, with each house featuring high-end finishes. A company called Zen interiors worked on the show home at Kihingo Village, showcasing the potential quality of the homes.
