Probe Into Murder of Sheikh Idris Mohammed Underway in Mombasa

CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro has traveled to Mombasa to oversee the investigation into the murder of Sheikh Idris Mohammed. Sheikh Mohammed, chairman of the Council of Islamic Preachers of Kenya, was shot and killed at his gate in Likoni on Tuesday. He was a prominent voice against the preaching of extremism and the radicalization of youth. According to unverified documents obtained by NTV, Sheikh Idris had recently been appointed as the Imam of Sakina Mosque by the Muslim association, a position he previously held in 1979. Sources suggest that investigators may explore whether his appointment to this role was a motive for the killing. As of now, no arrests have been made.
