Turkana MP James Lomenen led a group of police and community members in a battle against bandits who had stolen their livestock. According to reports, the MP, armed with an AK47, encouraged his group to push forward into dangerous areas.
A three-hour fight ensued when the group finally caught up with the bandits, resulting in the recovery of all stolen livestock. The recovered animals were then returned to their owners.
The incident highlights the dangers faced in Turkana, an area known for its high risk. In 2012, more than 40 police officers lost their lives in the Suguta Valley during a mission to recover stolen livestock.
