On July 22, 2019, a devastating airstrike in northwest Syria left a trail of death and destruction, claiming the lives of 50 civilians.
According to a war monitor, the regime and Russian air strikes targeted a crowded market in the town of Maaret al-Numan in Idlib province, resulting in the loss of 36 civilians and two unidentified persons.
AFP photographer witnessed the aftermath of the bombing, describing the scene as chaotic, with men covered in blood being carried away by residents and rescue workers using mattresses as makeshift stretchers.
One man lay lifeless on the ground, his body surrounded by rubble, while another clutched the arms of two people helping him out of the bombed area, his eyes closed and face covered in dust.
