A group of students from a Nairobi-based private university caused a disturbance in the Roysambu area, Nairobi, after engaging in a fierce battle over female students.
The fighting involved students from Nigeria and Tanzania, according to witnesses.
The altercation began at a shisha bar in a nearby mall, where the foreign students had been drinking together until the early hours of the morning. A disagreement arose over female companions, leading to the clash.
Witnesses reported that the Tanzanian students fled with the girls to their rented apartments near the mall, with the Nigerian students in pursuit.
In an attempt to escape, the Tanzanian students abandoned their vehicles and hid under other cars parked in the parking lot at their flat.
When the Nigerian students were unable to find them, they vandalized one of the cars belonging to a Tanzanian student, breaking the windows and shouting obscenities.
The Tanzanian students emerged from hiding after the Nigerian students had left, claiming that one of the girls had been injured in the eye with broken glass during the altercation.
The incident occurred in an area with a significant population of students, including foreign ones.
It is unclear whether the affected students reported the matter to the local police.
