A robbery occurred outside Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg during a live broadcast, targeting SABC contributing editor Vuyo Mvoko. Mvoko was preparing for a prime-time news interview on SABC3 when the incident happened.
The event took place while Mvoko was covering the arrival of Zambian President Edgar Lungu at the hospital. Two individuals, clearly visible on camera, carried out the mugging.
According to SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago, no one was injured during the incident. However, the crew members were left in shock.
"The crew were not harmed although they are still in shock. They were robbed of personal belongings including cell phones and a laptop. The matter has since been reported to the police who were called to the scene."
