Defections to and from the major political parties continue, with three more politicians leaving Jubilee for the National Super Alliance (NASA).
The trio, from North Eastern, hopes to capture various seats in Mandera county through NASA in the August 2017 elections.
They include Hassan Osman, who is vying for the Senate seat, Hassan Noor Hassan, who is running for the gubernatorial seat, and Adan Yusuf, who is seeking the Takaba constituency seat.
According to reports, the three aspirants, along with four MPs and 18 MCAs, were endorsed by elders to vie for political seats in Mandera.
Hassan Noor has been endorsed to replace the current Mandera Governor Ali Roba, while Hassan Osman has been positioned to replace Senator Billow Kerrow.
The Garre elders justified this move, arguing it was meant to introduce fresh blood into the political leadership of the region.
It is not yet clear which party within the NASA coalition the three have joined.
The defections may dent Jubilee's popularity in Mandera and deny President Uhuru Kenyatta the needed numbers in parliament, as residents are likely to vote for the three following their unanimous endorsement by the elders.
