Nairobi County Women Representative Rachel Shebesh has criticized Senator Mike Sonko's Rescue Team, terming it as 'unnecessary drama'.
Shebesh was caught on camera commenting on the team. Starehe MP Maina Kamanda also spoke about the team, revealing that some members had not been paid their salaries for four months.
Kamanda and other MPs questioned Sonko's wealth, suggesting that he was trying to intimidate other politicians, including President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nairobi City boss Evans Kidero also criticized Sonko, referring to him as a 'drug dealer running a parallel government.' Kidero ordered the seizure of the Rescue Team's vehicles and equipment.
Sonko responded to the criticism on social media, posting a video and a message on his Facebook page and YouTube. He stated,
'Did you know that Sonko Rescue Team was formed on 12/09/2011 during the Sinai Fire tragedy. It worries me watching "Some elected leaders ganging up in church to fight Sonko Rescue Team instead of uniting and offering services to Kenyans who elected them.''
