Published on July 22, 2019, Gor Mahia captain Harun Shakava has dispelled rumors that he's parted ways with the record KPL champions, stating he will honor his contract until its expiry.

Shakava, who is widely linked with a move to Wazito and Tanzanian side Yanga, says he will leave Gor Mahia if any team interested in his services agrees terms with the club before his contract expires.

'The fact that a number of teams are interested in my services does not mean I have ditched Gor Mahia. I am still a Gor Mahia player and still have a contract that runs to December this year,' said Shakava.

Speculation has swirled regarding the centre-half's future at K'Ogalo after the infamous trip to Berkane, Morocco for the CAF Confederations Cup quarter-final match, with reports citing him as one of the players targeted for the purge by the club's executive on incitement claims.

Others who have left the club include playmaker Francis Kahata, who has since parted company with the KPL giants after running down his contract. Kahata joined Tanzanian powerhouse Simba slightly over a week ago.

Shakava has admitted that a number of local and foreign teams are interested in his services, including KPL comeback team Wazito FC, Tanzanian powerhouse Yanga SC, and a number of teams in Zambia, which he declined to mention.

The towering defender has made it clear that upon the expiry of his contract with K'Ogalo, he will not pen a new deal but will look for options elsewhere.

'It is my own decision to quit the club at the end of my contract and I will not pen a new deal with Gor. No one has compelled me to take this action but it is my personal decision to look for other options elsewhere,' he said.

Gor Mahia CEO Lordvic Aduda has stated that the club may beef up their squad ahead of the CAF Champions League depending on the outcome of the technical meeting with the head coach.
