Tanzanian artiste AY has spoken about his past relationship with singer Amani, stating that distance was the primary reason for their split.
In a recent interview, AY clarified that their breakup was not due to a fight or infidelity, as previously speculated.
Background of the Relationship ¶
AY and Amani started as friends in 2005 before becoming lovers. They parted ways in 2007.
I met Amani in 2005. We became close friends and later, lovers. We loved and respected each other. In 2007, we split. (Contrary to what many speculated), misunderstanding and quarrel did not contribute to the break up.
AY explained that the mutual decision to end the relationship was largely due to the costs and logistics of maintaining a long-distance relationship, as neither was willing to relocate.
The distance and expenses incurred (in making the relationship work) were the main reasons we went our separate ways. Neither I nor Amani was ready to relocate to the other’s native country; patriotism played a part in our stance.
Despite their split, AY expressed admiration for Amani, and they occasionally keep in touch, having established a strong foundation of friendship before their romantic involvement.
