A dramatic scene unfolded in Nakuru on a Friday when a woman, Ms Nelly Atieno, stormed a church associated with Prophet Owuor, protesting the planned wedding of her husband, Fredrick Ajwang, to another woman, Levine Nyamoita, a policewoman.

Ms Atieno arrived at the Kings Outreach Church headquarters, armed with a court order and a photocopy of the wedding invitation card, demanding that the church leadership halt the wedding proceedings.

Evidence and Context

The wedding was initially scheduled to take place at the Kings Outreach Church Bumala Altar in Busia. Ms Atieno claimed she had been married to Mr Ajwang for 13 years, with whom she has four children, and produced a court order obtained on Thursday after learning about the wedding from a friend who is a member of the church.

According to Ms Atieno, she and Mr Ajwang were married in 2003 under Luo customs. When contacted by Nairobi News, Mr Ajwang acknowledged knowing Ms Atieno and confirmed she was his wife but declined to comment further, citing the matter was in court.

Response and Consequences

Ms Atieno expressed that she had been experiencing difficulties in her relationship with Mr Ajwang. Upon discovering the wedding plans through a friend, she promptly sought a court order from a Busia Magistrate court to stop the wedding.

After presenting the court order to the church's presiding pastor, Archbishop Reverend Sila, Ms Atieno alleged that despite her earlier complaints to the church in August 2015 regarding her marriage, the church proceeded with the wedding preparations.

The church leadership, however, stated that Ms Atieno lacked documentation to prove her legal marriage to Mr Ajwang. In response to the allegations, Archbishop Sila informed Nairobi News that the wedding had been suspended until the matter is resolved in court, stating that if Mr Ajwang and Ms Atieno decide to divorce, the church would then proceed with the wedding.
