Nairobi governor aspirant Peter Kenneth was denied an opportunity to address the congregation at the Redeemed Gospel church in Huruma estate by the presiding bishop.
Earlier, Team PK had circulated a media alert to journalists and bloggers announcing Kenneth's attendance at the church service. However, when Kenneth attempted to address the gathering, the bishop rejected his request.
Kenneth later spoke to journalists outside the church, downplaying the incident and discussing the ongoing nominations debate within the Jubilee party. He expressed his readiness for a consensus to pick the Jubilee flag bearer.
Kenneth faces stiff competition from Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, who has received support from Jubilee Team Nairobi leaders, including Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Dagoreti South MP Dennis Waweru, and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja.
Later, Kenneth proceeded to Eastleigh's PCEA Church, where clerics also rejected his attempts to address the congregation.
Some city churches have reportedly blacklisted certain Nairobi politicians, including Hon Maina Kamanda, after he referred to Senator Mike Sonko as a dog in front of bishops at a Kasarani church in 2016.
